FAAN Launches Zero-Emission Electric Transit Services at Abuja Airport

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has launched zero-emission electric transit services at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s transition to green energy.

This initiative, developed in partnership with Possible Electric Mobility and Zeut Energies, positions FAAN as a trailblazer in sustainable aviation infrastructure.

The electric vehicles will provide seamless passenger and staff mobility to and from the airport, significantly cutting carbon emissions and aligning with global green energy standards.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) launched zero-emission electric transit services at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja. Developed with Possible Electric Mobility and Zeut Energies, this initiative positions FAAN as a trailblazer in sustainable aviation.

The Board Chairman, H.E. Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo for their support.

FAAN’s Managing Director, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, highlighted that her management has optimized energy usage across FAAN’s operations, installing energy-efficient bulbs, solar lighting, and enhancing waste recycling, among other measures to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

This move is part of Nigeria’s broader efforts to reduce carbon emissions and achieve net-zero targets, as outlined by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

FAAN plans to deploy 100 electric vehicles as airport shuttles at both the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, and NAIA, Abuja.
