UNODC Lauds NPF-NCCC for Cybercrime Efforts

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has commended the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) for its significant contributions to strengthening cybersecurity in Nigeria.

According to the UNODC’s 2025 Annual Report on Cybercrime in Nigeria, the NPF-NCCC has made notable achievements, including the arrest of 93 Chinese nationals and other Asian suspects involved in large-scale cyber-enabled crimes. The Centre has also recorded remarkable successes in financial restitution, recovering ₦8,821,001,881.05, 115,237.91 USDT (cryptocurrency), and $84,000 USD in 2024, all of which were returned to victims.

The was disclosed in a statement issued by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Force Public Relations Officer, in Abuja today.

The NPF-NCCC has also dismantled 685 devices linked to cybercrime activities and upgraded its public complaint system to an e-reporting platform. The Unit has been named the Best Cybercrime Unit in Africa by INTERPOL’s Cybercrime Directorate in Singapore.

The UNODC has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the NPF-NCCC through financial assistance, training, and advanced technological tools.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has commended UNODC for its collaboration and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to ensuring a safer cyberspace.

The NPF-NCCC is a key unit within the Nigeria Police Force focused on combating cybercrime. Its efforts aim to strengthen cybersecurity, recover stolen funds, and ensure a safer online environment in Nigeria.
