NLNG Delegates Visit GECF Secretariat In Doha

By Danjuma Amodu | February 3, 2026

Delegates of Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) paid a courtesy visit to the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Secretariat in Doha, Qatar, on the sidelines of the ongoing LNG2026 conference. The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation on global gas market developments.

Led by Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Olakunle Osobu, the NLNG delegation, held constructive discussions with GECF Secretary General, Dr. Philip Mshelbila, and members of the Secretariat’s leadership team.

Topics covered included gas market outlooks, energy economics, data and analytics, infrastructure development, and natural gas’ role in supporting energy security and sustainable development.

This engagement underscores NLNG’s commitment to collaboration, dialogue, and active participation in global gas industry conversations.

Nigeria’s efforts to strengthen its position in the global energy market are gaining momentum, with the NLNG expanding its capacity through a $10 billion Train 7 project. The project will increase production from 22 million tonnes per year to 30 million tonnes, boosting Nigeria’s LNG exports and supporting its “Decade of Gas” vision.

Nigeria’s gas reserves, estimated at 209.26 trillion cubic feet, position it as a key player in the global energy landscape.

The country’s focus on gas as a transition fuel aligns with its broader energy diversification and industrialization agenda.
