Ogoni Power Project Gets Boost as Transmission Tower Materials Arrive

By Danjuma Amodu | February 10, 2026

A fresh consignment of transmission tower materials for the Ogoni Power Project (OPP) has arrived at the Wiiyaakara Transmission Sub-station, marking another milestone in the project’s progress. Twelve trucks carrying the materials arrived on site, and installation work is currently underway.

The OPP, aimed at improving electricity supply in Ogoni, involves constructing transmission infrastructure to connect the region to the national grid. This development follows the successful installation of two 60 MVA transformers at the Bodo Transmission Sub-station last week.

The Power Distribution Survey is set to commence in the coming weeks, aiming to establish a sustainable power adistribution model for the OPP.

The 132KVA project supports various initiatives, including the Centre of Excellence for Environmental Restoration (CEER), healthcare facilities, and water projects, driving socio-economic development in Ogoni, a region affected by oil pollution.
