Gas Dispensing Facility Brings Cleaner Energy to Rumuji Community

By Danjuma Amodu | March 17, 2026

A major milestone in community development has been achieved with the opening of a 6.5-ton gas dispensing facility in Rumuji, Rivers State. The facility, delivered through the NLNG GMoU (Global Memorandum of Understanding) framework and the Rumuji Cluster Development Foundation (RCDF), provides local families with a safer, cleaner alternative to firewood and kerosene.

The facility is expected to ease daily energy challenges, giving residents easier access to cooking gas and reducing reliance on firewood and kerosene. This project is part of the broader GMoU development efforts in Rumuji, which includes principal housing, road infrastructure, scholarships for 29 students, and empowerment for 200 women farmers to support long-term community prosperity.

Speaking on the occasion, representatives from NLNG emphasized the company’s commitment to community development, stating, “At NLNG, we believe in partnerships that empower communities to shape their own futures.”

The opening of the facility is seen as a significant step toward sustainable, grassroots growth in Rumuji.

The NLNG GMoU framework has been instrumental in driving development projects in host communities, focusing on sustainable initiatives that improve livelihoods.

The Rumuji Cluster Development Foundation (RCDF) played a key role in facilitating the project, ensuring it met the community’s needs.

The facility’s opening has been welcomed by residents, who anticipate improved living standards and economic benefits from the project. With this development, Rumuji takes a significant step toward enhanced energy access and community growth.
