NIPR Backs Almajiri-to-Tech Programme, Says Skills Training Key to National Development

By Danjuma Amodu

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting education and skills programmes that equip vulnerable Nigerians with opportunities for self-reliance and national development.

Speaking at the Almajiri-to-Tech Foundation Graduation Ceremony in Abuja on Tuesday, NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, applauded the Foundation’s Founder, Mr. Tim Akano, a Fellow of the Institute, for prioritising initiatives that deliver value and positively impact humanity.

Dr. Neliaku said the project, which trains out-of-school children in technical skills, aligns with NIPR’s mandate to promote programmes that offer enduring value to society.

He stressed that education and vocational training remain critical tools for addressing unemployment and poverty, and urged Nigerians to embrace initiatives that expand access to economic opportunities at the community level.

“Every Nigerian must embrace initiatives that give communities access to economic opportunities for national development,” he said.

The NIPR President congratulated the beneficiaries and charged them to apply and share the knowledge acquired during their training as a means of tackling unemployment in the country.

The Almajiri-to-Tech Foundation focuses on equipping out-of-school children, particularly from Almajiri backgrounds, with digital and technical skills to enable them to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to the economy.

NIPR said it will continue to partner with organisations and individuals driving education, skills acquisition and public enlightenment programmes as part of its role in supporting national development.
