The Nigeria Revenue Service, NRS, has charged its Senior Protocol Officers to deploy the skills acquired during a five-day intensive training to raise the standard of professionalism and service delivery in the Protocol Division.

The workshop, held in Ibadan and organised by Platinum Protocol and Verity Consultants Limited, focused on equipping officers with modern protocol practices to align with the Service’s drive for efficiency and institutional excellence.

The Chief Executive Officer of Platinum Protocol and Verity Consultants, Ambassador Ibrahim Mohammed Bashir, commended the Executive Chairman of the NRS, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, for approving the capacity-building programme. He described it as a strategic investment in the competence and image of the Service.

According to Bashir, the training was designed to strengthen leadership capacity, improve operational efficiency and reposition the Protocol Division to meet rising demands in government engagements.

At the closing ceremony, certificates of participation were presented to the officers. Bashir urged them to guard the certificates as proof of professional development and to apply the lessons in their daily duties.

Also speaking, Senior Consultant at Platinum Protocol, Ambassador Mustapha Suleiman, said the participants were trained by seasoned professionals with deep experience in protocol management.

“You have been equipped by the best in the field. The knowledge you have gained here should not end in this hall. I urge you to make full use of what you have learnt and change the narrative in the Protocol Division.”

Suleiman expressed optimism that the NRS management would see immediate improvements in professionalism, efficiency, discipline and decorum in the discharge of protocol responsibilities.

Responding on behalf of the participants, Ezeji Comfort Nwabundo thanked the NRS management for the initiative, describing it as a clear demonstration of the Service’s commitment to building a skilled and service-oriented workforce.

She said the training covered practical areas including fundamentals of protocol, order of precedence, protocol etiquette, planning and management of VIP visits, use of flags and logos, security and media relations, logistics and convoy management, seating arrangements, dining etiquette and table setting.

“The training has been both practical and enlightening, and we are leaving better equipped to carry out our responsibilities with greater professionalism, confidence, and attention to detail.”
