The Project Coordinator of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP), Prof. Nenibarini Zabbey, says Ogoni is emerging as a preferred hub for high-demand technical skills following the Project’s massive investment in human capacity development for women and youths.

Prof. Zabbey stated this on Monday during a visit to Livelihood Training Centres in Port Harcourt, where he interacted with trainees in Animation and Graphics, Full Stack Development and Cybersecurity.
He urged the beneficiaries to maximise the opportunities offered by the training, charging them to be stewards and ambassadors of the Project by supporting sustainable cleanup efforts and discouraging misinformation about HYPREP’s mandate.
The trainees and their facilitators, who expressed delight over the programme, commended HYPREP and the Project Coordinator for the initiative and pledged to make the most of the skills to contribute to community growth and national development.

Over 2,400 Ogoni women and youths have completed or are currently participating in nine high-demand skills training programmes being implemented by HYPREP.
Other ongoing training areas include Commercial Diving/Underwater Welding, Rope Access, GIS and Crowd Mapping, Rigging, and Ship Fabrication and Blasting.
According to Zabbey, the skill sets are strategically designed to position beneficiaries for emerging industry demands, empower them economically and enable them to drive sustainable development in their communities.
