In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, ASCSN National President, Comrade Mohammed Shehu, said the appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, was a reward for excellence, integrity and years of meritorious service, and was in full alignment with the Public Service Rules, PSR, and the principle of career progression.
“Dr. Enitan’s journey is one of steady growth, discipline and impact. From private practice to the public service, and rising to the peak as a Permanent Secretary, he has served with distinction across several strategic Ministries. His cross-cutting experience gives him a deep, practical understanding of government,” Shehu stated.
The labour leader highlighted Dr. Enitan’s record as Permanent Secretary in key government institutions.
“He has worked at the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Vice President, and is currently Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education.”
Shehu noted that having superintended portfolios covering security, environment, humanitarian affairs and education, Dr. Enitan brings broad institutional memory and a sound technical grasp of policy formulation and implementation to the office of Head of Service.
He eulogised Dr. Enitan for his strong work ethics, commitment to due process, and dedication to staff welfare and capacity development, adding that throughout his career he has been known for professionalism, transparency, and unwavering adherence to public service rules.
“We are confident that with his wealth of experience, Dr. Enitan will consolidate ongoing reforms, deepen digital transformation, entrench merit and discipline, and improve service delivery across the Federal Civil Service. He is a perfect fit for this assignment at this critical time,” the ASCSN President said.
ASCSN pledged full cooperation and support to the new Head of Service and urged him to prioritise staff welfare, industrial harmony, training and retraining, and the protection of the dignity of the Civil Service in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Association also commended President Tinubu for appointing a career officer with proven capacity to lead the bureaucracy.
