The Economic Community of West African States Community Court of Justice will hold a sensitisation mission and external court sessions in Conakry, Guinea, from 13 to 18 May 2026, to expand access to justice and raise awareness of its mandate across the region.
The two-day sensitisation programme on 13 and 14 May will educate citizens and stakeholders on the court’s jurisdiction, procedures and accessibility, while strengthening collaboration with national institutions. Activities include stakeholder engagements, technical sessions, interactive discussions, a forum for lawyers and law students, and judicial dialogue between ECOWAS Court judges and the Guinean judiciary.
The programme will conclude with a public legal clinic offering personalised guidance on the court’s operations and procedures. Participants are expected to include government representatives, judicial officers, legal practitioners, academics, civil society groups, journalists and members of the public.

Following the outreach, the court will convene external sessions from 15 to 18 May in a hybrid format combining physical and virtual proceedings. The court is expected to deliver 16 decisions comprising 14 judgments and two rulings, and will hear eight cases during the sittings.
“These initiatives are designed to bring regional justice mechanisms closer to citizens, enhance understanding of the Court’s role, and promote the rule of law and protection of human rights across West Africa.”

The court said the initiatives would strengthen cooperation with domestic institutions and advance accountability, transparency and legal integration in the sub-region. It reiterated its commitment to ensuring greater access to justice for citizens across West Africa.ex
