By Danjuma Amodu | March 18, 2026

The Federal Ministry of Education has received multiple recognitions for its outstanding commitment to service delivery, accountability, and institutional performance at the SERVICOM Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) Awards.

The Ministry was conferred with a Special Recognition Award by the SERVICOM Office, Presidency, under the SERVICOM WORKS HERE initiative, for bridging the gap between government and citizens through quality service delivery.

It also emerged as the 2nd Best Performing Ministerial SERVICOM Unit (MSU) and received commendation for maintaining high service standards.

Additionally, the Ministry secured five outstanding awards in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), reflecting its strategic use of digital tools to enhance service delivery and operational effectiveness.

The awards were presented to the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, during the Second Management Meeting of the first quarter of 2026.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Enitan emphasised the need for all departments and staff to ensure effective implementation of the Ministry’s mandate, setting standards for other MDAs to emulate. He stressed the importance of professionalism, accuracy, and alignment in official correspondences, and urged staff to pay close attention to detail in all official duties.

The Permanent Secretary also highlighted the need for adequate preparation and coordination in official engagements, proactive planning, and deliberate execution of responsibilities to minimise errors and inefficiencies.

The Ministry remains committed to strengthening its systems, enhancing service delivery, and maintaining its position as a leading institution within the Federal Civil Service, he said.

The Ministry’s achievements were attributed to its commitment to innovation, efficiency, and accountability. The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Enitan, noted that the recognitions underscore the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to improving service standards, strengthening accountability, and delivering effectively on its mandate.

He urged Directors and departmental heads to strengthen internal processes and ensure their units operate efficiently, noting that any weakness within a department can affect the overall performance of the Ministry. The Ministry further emphasised that commitment, proactiveness, accuracy of information, and deliberate action remain essential to achieving institutional goals and sustaining high performance standards.

The SERVICOM Awards recognise outstanding performance and service delivery among MDAs, and the Ministry’s multiple wins demonstrate its dedication to excellence. The Ministry will continue to build on its achievements, leveraging digital tools and innovation to enhance service delivery and operational effectiveness.

The event was attended by senior officials from various MDAs, who commended the Ministry’s efforts in promoting transparency and accountability.

The Ministry’s achievements serve as a model for other government agencies to emulate, and it is expected to maintain its momentum in driving service excellence.
