The Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN) has taken a significant step to align its goals with the new leadership of the Federal Ministry of Environment.
According to a statement issued by Idara Umoh-Ido, Media Aide to the Director General of FRIN, Zacharia B. Yaduma, briefed the newly deployed Permanent Secretary, Salihu Aminu Usman, on the Institute’s core mandates, strategic activities, ongoing programs, and key challenges at the Ministry’s conference room, Abuja.
The briefing, part of a series of sessions scheduled from March 17th to 27th, 2026, covered various departments, agencies, projects, and programs under the Ministry’s purview. Yaduma highlighted FRIN’s commitment to environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and showcased the Institute’s products. He also pointed out FRIN’s prevailing challenges, seeking areas for government support.
Impressed by the Institute’s achievements and challenges, the newly deployed Permanent Secretary, Salihu Usman, assured Yaduma of his full support and cooperation in advancing FRIN’s mandate.
Attendees included FRIN staff of the Abuja Liaison Office, Director of Administration and Liaison Officer Abuja, Dr. Christopher Nwadike, Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Ministry of Environment, Bukar Babagana, Ministry staff, and aides to the newly deployed Permanent Secretary.
The briefing is expected to enhance collaboration and synergy between FRIN and the Ministry, ultimately contributing to the achievement of the Ministry’s goals and objectives.
