The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Headquarters Chapel, has congratulated Comrade Linus Hagher on his appointment as a member of the Caretaker Committee to oversee the affairs of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Chapter.

The Chapel described the appointment as a recognition of Comrade Hagher’s commitment, professionalism, and contributions to journalism and sports media development.

In a congratulatory message signed on behalf of the NUJ FRCN HQs Chapel, Hassan Hussain commended the SWAN National Secretariat for finding Comrade Hagher worthy of serving on the three-man committee saddled with the responsibility of ensuring the smooth running of the association’s activities in the FCT.

The SWAN National Secretariat appointed the Caretaker Committee following the dissolution of the former FCT Chapter Executive Committee by the FCT Congress on June 19, 2026.

The committee, which has a three-month mandate, is chaired by Mr. Edwin Akwueh, with Ms. Tamara Ebiwei as Secretary and Comrade Linus Hagher as Member.

According to the appointment letter signed by the Secretary-General of SWAN, Ambassador Ikenna Okonkwo, the committee is expected to work with the Congress and the SWAN Electoral Committee, SWANECO, to conduct elections for a substantive executive committee for the chapter.

The NUJ FRCN HQs Chapel expressed confidence that Comrade Hagher, alongside other members of the committee, will bring his wealth of experience, integrity, and dedication to bear in the discharge of the assignment.

The Union wished the committee success as it works towards strengthening unity and continuity within the SWAN FCT Chapter.
