The Nigeria Police Force has appointed Olugbenga Agboola, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Flutterwave, as its National Youth Ambassador.
The appointment was announced on Monday, September 7, 2026, when Agboola led a delegation of Flutterwave executives to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for a meeting with the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the Police said the appointment falls under the International Youth Day 2026 – National Youth Security, Peacebuilding and Empowerment Initiative.
According to the Force, Agboola was selected in recognition of his achievements in technology entrepreneurship and his role in growing Flutterwave into one of Africa’s leading fintech companies. The Police cited his contributions to innovation, financial inclusion and entrepreneurship as key factors.
The Force said the youth initiative is designed to engage credible young leaders to promote peace, responsible citizenship, cybersecurity awareness and legitimate economic opportunities.
It added that the programme will also encourage young Nigerians to avoid cybercrime and other social vices by providing alternatives through education, technology, entrepreneurship and lawful enterprise.
IGP Disu said the appointment reflects the Police’s commitment to deepen engagement with young Nigerians and involve them as partners in the campaign for safer communities.
The Inspector-General also emphasised the need to equip young police officers with digital and technological skills to tackle emerging crimes. He noted that improved capacity in digital forensics, cyber investigations and modern policing tools would enhance the Force’s ability to track digital evidence and respond to technology-driven crimes.
Disu urged Agboola to leverage his experience, platform and influence to inspire young Nigerians to pursue legitimate opportunities, uphold integrity and use innovation for national development.
In his response, Agboola thanked the IGP for the honour and pledged support for the objectives of the initiative, particularly in youth empowerment, cybersecurity awareness, entrepreneurship and peaceful civic participation.

Oke, Diaspora, UK Lead; Omobolade Oshiokameh, Chief of Staff – Nigeria; and Asuquo Betseabasi Eyo, Legal Assistant to the CEO, Stanel.
The Police reiterated its determination to build strategic partnerships to advance youth development, technological innovation and cybersecurity, and called on young Nigerians to play constructive roles in promoting peace, security and national development.
