In a renewed call for action, residents of Unguwar Sale community in Koroduma area of Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, have raised serious concerns over the prolonged and inadequate electricity supply affecting their daily lives and economic activities.
The situation, according to community members, has become increasingly unbearable, with power supply described as erratic and largely unavailable for meaningful use. Many residents say the little electricity provided often comes at inconvenient hours, rendering it practically useless.
A resident, Eden Miracle, expressed deep frustration over the situation, stating:
“We are in total darkness.
Things are beyond words. Since January, electricity is only supplied between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.—a time when most people are asleep. It is as good as having no power at all,” he said
The persistent blackout has negatively impacted small businesses, household activities, and overall quality of life in the area.
Residents lament that despite being part of a growing urban settlement, they continue to experience conditions that hinder productivity and basic comfort.
The community is therefore appealing to the relevant electricity distribution authority to urgently address the situation and restore stable power supply.
In their collective voice, the residents called on the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to respond swiftly to their plight, emphasizing that access to reliable electricity is a fundamental necessity for development and well-being.
