The Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) says it is ready to take over power in 2027, promising a new leadership direction focused on security, economic recovery, accountability and national development.
The National Chairman of the party, Barrister Samuel Memeh, stated this in Abuja during the official flag-off of the party’s campaigns and presentation of Certificates of Return to its candidates for the 2027 general elections.
Memeh said the party was positioning itself as an alternative to the present administration, noting that Nigerians deserved competent leadership capable of addressing insecurity, poverty, unemployment and the rising cost of living.
He called for comprehensive police reforms, improved intelligence gathering and the adoption of modern security technologies, while supporting the consideration of constitutionally safeguarded state policing to strengthen the protection of lives and property.
The DLA chairman also advocated economic policies that would promote local production, manufacturing, modern agriculture, renewable energy, science and technology, stressing that reforms must translate into affordable food, job creation and improved living standards.
Memeh disclosed that the party had completed its nomination processes for candidates contesting the presidential, governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections.
He described the DLA as a youth-driven political platform, highlighting its presidential candidate, Musa Debisi, who is 36 years old, as part of the party’s commitment to youth participation and development-oriented governance.
The chairman urged party members and candidates to remain united, maintain discipline and conduct peaceful campaigns in accordance with electoral laws.
He also appealed to Nigerians to look beyond immediate material inducements when making electoral choices, urging them to assess candidates based on their policies, integrity and capacity to deliver good governance.
In his remarks, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Leadership Alliance, Moses Adebisi, promised to deliver the dividends of democracy to Nigerians if elected President.
Adebisi reaffirmed the party’s commitment to improving the welfare of citizens through responsive and people-oriented governance.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the party’s National Campaign Council, Barrister Fortune Aghwaretoma, said the DLA would prioritise the needs of Nigerians and ensure that democratic governance translates into tangible benefits for the people.
He called on Nigerians to support the DLA, expressing confidence that the party would provide purposeful leadership and deliver on its promises if given the mandate.
The party leaders maintained that the welfare and development of the country would remain central to the party’s agenda.
The campaign was launched under the theme, “A New Leadership for a Secure, Just and Productive Nigeria.”
