Nigeria, Türkiye Strengthen Defence Ties as Air Chief Accompanies Tinubu on Ankara Visit

Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, Chief of the Air Staff, has accompanied President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Defence Minister General Christopher Gwabin Musa on an official visit to Ankara, Türkiye, aimed at bolstering bilateral relations and expanding strategic cooperation in defence, security, and technology.

The visit has yielded nine Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering defence, trade, education, and technology, paving the way for advanced technology transfer, skills development, and institutional cooperation. The agreements support Nigeria’s defence modernisation drive and national development objectives.

Aneke and the Defence Minister also visited Turkish defence firms, including ASELSAN and Turkish Aerospace Industries, to review procurement arrangements and explore future cooperation initiatives.

The visit reinforces the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to enhanced operational effectiveness, national security, and sustainable development, assuring Nigerians of improved safety and progress.
