The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Prof. Salihu Sanusi Avidime, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to staff welfare, merit-based recognition, and inclusive governance following a familiarisation visit by a delegation of Kogi West staff on 22nd April, 2026.
The engagement, held at the Rector’s office, was attended by the Deputy Rector, Dr Samuel Taiwo Olowo, and the Registrar, Elder Sunday Ayeetan.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Chairman, Mr Sampson Ikusika, welcomed the Rector and commended the atmosphere of peace that has characterised his administration, describing it as a defining trait that had strengthened staff confidence and enhanced the discharge of their duties. He urged the Rector to sustain the disposition in the overall interest of the Polytechnic.
Mr Ikusika also raised concerns about staff welfare, stressing the need for improved working conditions. He highlighted the importance of motivation through recognition of merit and stronger support systems to enable optimal productivity across all cadres.

He further noted the pool of Kogi West staff serving the Polytechnic in various capacities, including Principal Officers, Directors, Deans, and Heads of Department, adding that others were readily available to contribute to the success of the administration.
Mr Adeyemi S.T. commended the Rector’s hospitality and urged him not to listen to sycophants with self-serving aims, but to remain focused on the general interest and welfare of staff.
Mr Owoleke S.O. prayed for the Rector’s success and called for sincerity of purpose and a people-centred approach to leadership.
Dr Mrs Joseph Y., alongside Dr Mrs Ehimony Grace, congratulated the Rector and expressed appreciation for the appointments accorded to some of their members. They offered prayers for a tenure marked by impactful leadership and enduring transformation.
Dr Kolade Jones appealed to the Rector to always remember Kogi West staff at the Itakpe Campus and to consistently factor them into his plans and developmental agenda.
In his response, Prof Avidime expressed profound gratitude for what he described as a thoughtful and sincere engagement. He said the submissions reflected a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to the growth of the Polytechnic, commending their candour, unity of purpose, and constructive tone.

Addressing the issues raised, the Rector acknowledged concerns on staff welfare and working conditions, stressing that staff well-being and motivation remained central to his administration’s priorities. He reiterated his commitment to strengthening systems that recognise merit, encourage productivity, and promote fairness across all cadres.
On the caution against undue influence, he assured the delegation of his resolve to uphold integrity, objectivity, and inclusiveness in decision-making, guided solely by the overarching interest of the institution.
The delegation formally presented a congratulatory card to the Rector as a gesture of goodwill and official welcome. The presentation symbolised solidarity and collective support, underscoring appreciation of his leadership style and optimism for a productive tenure.
The engagement was described as constructive and fruitful, reinforcing mutual understanding and shared commitment to the progress of the Polytechnic.
