Nigeria Immigration Service Strengthens Regional Cooperation on Migration Management

By Jato Ann Mathew | 31 January 2026

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has strengthened regional cooperation on migration management through a collaborative study visit with a Joint Cabo Verdean Delegation of Migration Management Institutions and the National Observatory on Trafficking in Persons.

The visit, hosted by NIS in collaboration with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), took place at the Service Headquarters in Abuja.

The Comptroller General of Immigration Service (CGIS) noted that the study visit represented a strategic platform for knowledge exchange, institutional learning, and deepening of regional cooperation on migration and migration-related issues.

The programme featured technical paper presentations and interactive sessions on knowledge exchange and best practices, offering insights into Nigeria’s migration management system and strengthening collaboration, security, and cross-border management in the sub-region.

The event aimed to strengthen institutional partnerships and enhance country-to-country cooperation in migration management and border governance.
