Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has won the Excellence in Gas Development Award at the 9th Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES 2026).
“This recognition reflects NLNG’s sustained leadership in gas development – driving supply growth, reducing waste, and strengthening Nigeria’s footprint in the global energy market,” the company said in a statement on its X (formerly Twitter) handle.
NLNG’s achievement comes as it also made notable strides at the LNG2026 Conference in Doha, Qatar, participating in high-level discussions on the global LNG market.
At NIES 2026, NLNG’s participation was marked by a presentation on regional energy integration, highlighting its commitment to advancing gas as a catalyst for industrialization and peace in Africa, as well as participating in various panel discussions.
The company engaged with stakeholders, secondary school students, and the public, promoting energy education and the role of gas in Nigeria’s energy mix.
NLNG’s “Will of Fortune” game at its pavilion was a hit, with participants winning various prizes.
Looking ahead, NLNG will be participating at the Sub-Saharan Africa International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (SAIPEC) 2026 in Lagos from February 10-12, 2026.
The NIES 2026 summit concluded with a call by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri,
for a world-class energy centre in Nigeria, positioning the country as a global energy hub.
“The facility will be industry-owned, privately built, and managed by world-class operators to ensure sustainability and adherence to global standards.” Lokpobiri added.
Senator Lokpobiri emphasized the importance of leveraging Nigeria’s oil and gas resources for industrialization, energy security, and economic growth.
Dr. James Shindi, Project Director, NIES/CEO Brevity Anderson, thanked stakeholders, sponsors, and participants for making the summit a success, highlighting the Minister’s unwavering support and guidance.
