Police Promote Eight Senior Officers to Deputy Inspector-General Rank

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has decorated eight senior officers who were elevated to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) in a ceremony at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

This was contained in a press statement by Force’s new spokesman, CSP Isuku Victor, Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, posted on the verified X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Nigeria Police Force.

In his address, IGP Disu described the ceremony as a recognition of decades of dedicated service, professional excellence, and leadership capacity. He charged the officers to provide strategic direction, strengthen internal discipline, drive reforms, and ensure that policing strategies remain responsive to evolving security challenges.

The newly promoted DIGs are Zachariah Fera Achinyan fdc; Zango Ibrahim Baba; Isyaku Mohammed; Margaret Agebe Ochalla; Mohammed Abdul Sulaiman mni; Kenechukwu Onwuemelie fdc; Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha mni; and Umar Shehu Nadada mni. The IGP, the newly promoted DIGs alongside the Force Secretary; AIG Olabode Adeleye Akinbamilowo mnips, mspsp, constitute the new Force Management Team.

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including Rt. Hon. Kabir Alhassan Rurum, Chairman, House Committee on Airforce; Dr. Temitope Ilori, DG, NACA; former Head of Civil Service, Danladi Kefas, CFR, OON, mni; Engr. Jide Adeniji, former Chairman, FERMA; Hon. Commissioner Muhammed Abdulmutalik, Kogi State; the Zazzau of Zaria; the wife of late IGP Arase, Mrs. Arese Arase; Former DSS spokesperson, Marilyn Ogar and retired senior officers including AIG Austin Iwa and CP Alobi

IGP Disu extended his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Police Service Commission for their support and transparency in the promotion process.

He also acknowledged the families of the newly decorated officers for their sacrifices and encouragement, which, according to him, have been critical to the officer’s distinguished careers.

Marking a new chapter in the Nigeria Police Force under IGP Disu’s leadership, the newly promoted DIGs will join the Force Management Team, comprising IGP Disu and the Force Secretary, AIG Olabode Adeleye Akinbamilowo, thereby enhancing the strategic direction of the Force. The ceremony underscored the NPF’s commitment to merit-based promotions and professional excellence.
