APC Primaries: Group Praises Tinubu, Yilwatda Over Push For Credible Candidates

By Hassan Hussain

A political pressure group, Project774 Network for Asiwaju, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, for insisting on credible and competent candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The commendation followed the recently concluded governorship and National Assembly primary elections of the party. Official results are yet to be announced by the APC national secretariat.

The national coordinator of the group, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim, gave the commendation while speaking with journalists in Abuja on Thursday.

He said the intervention of the president and the party’s national leadership became necessary because the outcome of the primaries did not meet the standards set by the APC leadership.

According to him, President Tinubu’s vision is to build a political structure anchored on integrity, competence, credibility, and commitment to the Nigerian people.

Alhaji Ibrahim said the president had urged state governors to ensure that the best candidates emerged from the primaries. He added that the outcome in some areas fell short of expectations.

He explained that while the president is focused on creating a future-oriented political system that reflects the aspirations of Nigerians, some stakeholders remain more concerned with immediate interests.

The group also commended the APC national chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, for implementing what it described as the president’s vision of quality leadership.

It, however, expressed concern over the actions of some party stakeholders who, it said, are not aligned with the administration’s objectives.

The group praised members of the Federal Executive Council, including the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; minister of works, David Umahi; minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; minister of information, Mohammed Idris; and minister of defence, Christopher Musa, for their contributions to national development.

Project774 Network for Asiwaju also urged Nigerians to remain focused and support government policies and programmes, while cautioning against misinformation from opposition groups.

The group called on APC members to remain loyal and committed to the leadership of President Tinubu and Professor Yilwatda. It warned those working against the party’s interests that their actions would be exposed.

It also urged the media to continue to uphold its constitutional responsibility through factual and balanced reportage in the interest of national development.
