The Founder of the Non-Governmental Organisation, Adorable Foundation International, Princess Ozobuekwe Chidinma, popularly known as Queen ASACADA, has called on parents, teachers, guardians, and government at all levels to pay closer attention to children and youths in order to curb the growing menace of drug abuse and cultism.
Princess Chidinma made the call during an awareness campaign against drug abuse and cultism at Kabusa District in the Federal Capital Territory.
She said early identification of behavioural changes in children could help prevent substance abuse and other social vices.
She stressed that listening to young people and providing the necessary guidance would help secure a better future, describing them as the leaders of tomorrow.
“Parents, teachers, guardians and everyone should listen to our children and pay attention to them. Little behavioural changes may be signs of drug abuse. We must remain focused on them because they are the leaders of tomorrow,” she said.
Also speaking, the Abuja Zonal Local Organising Committee (LOC) Coordinator of Adorable Foundation International, Princess Maureen Iwua, said the organisation remained committed to sensitising youths on the dangers of drug abuse and cultism.
Princess Iwua explained that the foundation regularly visits schools to educate students, distribute educational materials, and promote positive values among young people.
She disclosed that the organisation had reached 25 schools across the Federal Capital Territory as part of its annual campaign. She added that its humanitarian activities also include support for widows, orphans, hospitals, and correctional centres.
According to her, Adorable Foundation International operates in several states across Nigeria and beyond, and has sustained its humanitarian and advocacy programmes for nearly two decades.
The awareness campaign was delivered through the foundation’s flagship project, ASACADA — an acronym for A Society Campaign Against Cultism and Drug Abuse, aimed at Integrated Healthcare Delivery, Protection, Anti-Human Trafficking, and Gender-Based Violence Intervention.
