Nigeria Youths in Politics has appointed Hadiza Yakubu and Lawrence Uchechukwu Ibeh as Vice Chairmen of its National Working Committee (NWC) for the 2027 Electoral Cycle, as part of a broader leadership overhaul ahead of the general elections.
In a statement issued on Saturday, August 1, 2026, and signed by Director of Communications, Murphy Abayomi, the organization said Yakubu will serve as Vice Chairman (North) while Ibeh will serve as Vice Chairman (South).
Nigeria Youths in Politics is a non-partisan youth-led organization focused on civic education, voter mobilization, and promoting issue-based politics among young Nigerians. The group has positioned itself ahead of the 2027 General Elections as a key stakeholder in youth political engagement, with previous activities centered on voter education, peace campaigns, and advocacy for youth inclusion in governance.
The latest appointments followed a “comprehensive leadership overhaul” of the NWC carried out on June 16, 2026, which the organization described as a strategic restructuring to reposition the Committee for greater impact in 2027. According to the statement, the reconstitution was aimed at bringing on board “competent, visionary and value-driven personalities whose experience, commitment and leadership align with the vision and mission of Nigeria Youths in Politics.”
Working closely with the President/Chairman, the new Vice Chairmen will provide strategic leadership and coordination as the NWC drives its mandate for the 2027 elections. This includes developing the Nigeria Youth Political Code of Conduct, mobilizing young people toward peaceful and issue-based political participation, monitoring the electoral umpire to promote transparency, accountability and public confidence, and fostering collaboration with political parties, security agencies, INEC, civil society organizations, development partners, traditional and faith-based institutions to ensure the credibility of the electoral process.
“As we commence this important national assignment, we reaffirm our commitment to building a political culture founded on integrity, peaceful coexistence, democratic values and responsible youth leadership,” the statement said.
The organization added that the Committee “remains resolute in ensuring that Nigerian youths become active champions of credible elections, national unity and democratic consolidation.”
It congratulated Yakubu and Ibeh on their appointments and urged them to work with the President/Chairman and other NWC members to advance the mandate.
“Together, we are Leading the Change, for a Greater Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
