The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations says the 2026 World Public Relations Forum will be used to project Nigeria as a model of democratic stability, highlighting how the country’s democracy has grown since 1999 and the role of the legislature in deepening governance.
NIPR Vice President, Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura, stated this on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the National Assembly Library Trust Fund, Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba.
Prof. Dandaura, who also chairs the Continental Advisory Committee of WPRF, said the Institute is putting several programmes in place to give the Forum a unique appeal, including showcasing Nigeria’s investments in research to guide legislative actions.
He noted that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, a Fellow of NIPR, has demonstrated leadership through dialogue, community engagement and the institutionalization of responsible communication via the Open Week programme.
“WPRF is ready to amplify these gains and tell the story of Nigeria’s democratic journey,” Dandaura said. He described the legislature as an indispensable pillar in Nigeria’s thriving democratic culture.
In response, Rt. Hon. Nwawuba expressed delight at NIPR’s plan to prioritise legislative achievements during the November event and assured his office’s support for the programme’s success.
He commended the range of activities designed for the 2026 WPRF scheduled for November 15–21, saying they would highlight Nigeria’s hospitality and cultural heritage to over 3,000 delegates expected at the Forum.
Members of the delegation included: Chairman, National Planning Committee (WPRF) Dr. Suleiman Haruna; Vice Chairman, NPC-WPRF Hajiya Maryam Sanusi; Chairman, Language Transmission, NPC-WPRF Mrs. Olubunmi Badejo; Registrar of NIPR Chief Uzoma Onyegbadue; Chairman, Creatives and Multimedia Productions, NPC-WPRF Dr. Tope Ojeme; and NIPR Fellow Mrs. Yemisi Oyekola.
NIPR said the Forum will provide a global platform to position Nigeria’s democracy, legislative reforms and public relations practice before an international audience.
