The President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Dr. Ike Neliaku, has unveiled the “Nasarawa Conversation 1.0”, an initiative of the Nasarawa Chapter of the Institute aimed at deepening community dialogue and citizens engagement.

Speaking at the Annual General Meeting of the Chapter where he performed the unveiling last Saturday, Dr. Neliaku lauded the Chapter for creating the platform which he said will shape the trajectory of development in the state.

He said citizens engagement is very critical to drive development that answers to the needs of the people, stating that the Chapter has demonstrated leadership and deep understanding of how public relations can contribute towards nation-building.

“Nations are built by people, states are built by people. It is only when we engage and discuss that we will know areas where governance needs more strength and how the welfare of communities could be met,” he stated.

The NIPR boss also commended the governor of the State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule who featured on the inaugural edition of the Conversation for demonstrating leadership that has raised the profile of the state as one of the most beautiful, progressive, peaceful states across the country.

Chairman of the Chapter, Dr Joseph Attah earlier in his remarks said the initiative is consistent with the professional mandate of public relations to facilitate effective communication, build understanding among stakeholders and promote mutually beneficial relationships for sustainable development.

He expressed optimism that the annual flagship engagement of the Chapter will provide a robust platform for evidence-based conversations, stakeholder engagement and the generation of practical recommendations capable of influencing policies and accelerating development across the state.

In another development, the Chapter also joined in the nationwide road walk to drive sensitisation and deepen awareness ahead of the World Public Relations Forum Abuja 2026.

In the state capital, Lafia, NIPR President, Dr. Neliaku led the national flag-off where he said the hosting of the first specialised university in public relations is a significant accomplishment for the state, thanking the Governor for investing in the project poised to raise credible future leaders.
