The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced that the ongoing dualisation of the Airport road to Kuje and Gwagwalada roads is nearing completion and will be commissioned in June as part of activities marking President’s third year in office.
Wike made this known during an inspection of the projects on Wednesday, stating that the Kuje-Airport road, handled by Arab Contractors, is 76% complete. He described the route as a key infrastructure that will transform movement within the FCT.
“The Airport to Kuje road is very key for us,” Wike said, expressing excitement over the project’s progress. “God willing, by the first week of June or June ending, we would have inaugurated this project.”
The Minister noted that the Kuje-Gwagwalada axis is nearly 65% complete, adding that the contractors are on track to meet the deadline. The new road is expected to reduce traffic congestion around the airport corridor and provide an alternative route for motorists.
Residents of Kuje, Gwagwalada, and surrounding communities are set to benefit from the project, which aims to decongest the city centre.
