The Kogi State chapter of the City Boy Movement, CBM, has intensified its women mobilization drive with a strategic engagement with the Idah Formidable Sisters in Abuja, as part of efforts to galvanize broader support for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The meeting was held on Saturday at the Paulad Sports Centre in Kubwa. It was led by the Kogi State Director of CBM, Hon. Ogah Mark Okpanachi, and came barely three months after Ogah met with the State Leader of CBM in Kogi and immediate past Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, at his Abuja residence, alongside the Special Adviser on Youth and Student Affairs, Hon. Oladele John Nihi.
Speaking with journalists after the engagement, Ogah described the meeting with the Idah Formidable Sisters as “fruitful and forward-looking,” adding that it provided clear direction for the movement’s next phase, which prioritizes youth and women inclusion.
“The discussions offered useful direction for the movement’s next phase of activities. Even Kogi indigenes based outside the state are being galvanized to influence their kith and kin in Kogi and to vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in their respective locations across Nigeria,” he said.
Ogah disclosed that CBM Kogi State will also use the momentum from the meeting to invite stakeholders to a One-Day Town Hall Meeting, Inauguration and Membership Drive scheduled for the coming weeks.
“Preparations are already underway for a series of programmes and engagements to be unveiled in the coming weeks, with special emphasis on youth and women participation,” he noted.
“CBM remains committed to platforms that encourage inclusion, leadership development, and constructive civic participation. We are strengthening the involvement of women across Kogi State because they remain the backbone of political mobilization,” he added.
In her remarks, the President of the Idah Formidable Sisters, Mrs. Salamotu Muhammed Emakoji, pledged the group’s support for the movement. She also used the opportunity to invite Ogah and the CBM leadership to the association’s forthcoming 5th Year Anniversary.
“Over the years, our association has remained committed to promoting love, togetherness and meaningful contributions to the development of our community. This anniversary will celebrate five remarkable years of unity, friendship, women empowerment, community service and positive social impact,” Emakoji said.
The engagement is the latest indication of the deepening political alignment between CBM and women groups in the diaspora, with a focus on “youth and women inclusion” as a key strategy ahead of future elections.
Ogah, a prominent youth mobilizer within the APC, was appointed Director of CBM in Kogi to expand the movement’s grassroots structure. He said the guidance of former Governor Yahaya Bello remains central to CBM’s “next phase” of expansion in the state.
The City Boy Movement became a major youth mobilization platform within the APC after 2022, drawing its name from the “City Boy” tag associated with President Bola Tinubu. In Kogi, Ogah’s directorship have positioned the movement as a key vehicle for youth engagement and civic participation under the Tinubu/APC banner.
