The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sanctioned 66 personnel across various ranks for misconduct and other disciplinary offences, while confirming the approval of promotion for approximately 17,000 senior officers.

The Commandant-General of the Corps, Prof. Abubakar Audi, disclosed this on Friday during a press conference at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja.

Audi said the disciplinary measures included dismissal, reduction in rank, suspension and warning, following the receipt of official correspondence from the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) after its meeting.

He explained that the affected personnel were subjected to established disciplinary procedures, including proceedings before the Orderly Room and the Senior and Junior Officers’ Disciplinary Committees.

According to him, the committees examined the nature and gravity of the respective offences before recommending appropriate sanctions.

He said the recommendations were subsequently ratified by the board, reaffirming the corps’ commitment to discipline, professionalism and accountability.

In a related development, Audi confirmed that the corps had received the list of approximately 17,000 senior officers approved for promotion, as earlier announced by the Ministry of Interior and the CDCFIB.

He assured that the promotion list would be made public and communicated to the benefiting officers in due course.

The commandant-general reiterated the corps’ commitment to institutional discipline, professional excellence and improved service delivery in the discharge of its statutory responsibility to safeguard lives, property and critical national assets.
