Enzo Maresca Has Left His Role As A Chelsea Coachaftr 18 Months In Charge At Stamford Bridge

By Danjuma Amodu

Enzo Maresca has parted ways with Chelsea after just 18 months as head coach, following a breakdown in relations with the club and a string of poor results. The Italian coach leaves having won just one of his last seven Premier League games, leaving Chelsea 15 points behind leaders Arsenal.

Maresca’s exit was unanimously agreed by Chelsea’s board, with factors contributing to his departure, including disagreements over return-to-play protocols for injured players and speculation linking him to Manchester City.

Despite his successful tenure, which included a top-four finish, Uefa Conference League, and Club World Cup wins, Maresca’s relationship with the hierarchy soured. He had hoped to raise his profile through external opportunities but faced restrictions from the club.

Chelsea is now looking for a new head coach, with Liam Rosenior, currently manager at Strasbourg, a top contender. Other potential candidates include Roberto de Zerbi, former Brighton manager now at Marseille Oliver Glasner, Crystal Palace Boss, Andoni Iraola, Bournemouth Manager Caballero, Maresca’s assistant is also being considered for the role
