Faleke Denies “One‑Term” Pact Claim, Calls TrackNews Report Fabricated

By Danjuma Amodu | 21 January 2026

Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, Member of Parliament for Ikeja Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, has publicly refuted a story by the online outlet TrackNews that alleged the Presidency instructed former Governor Yahaya Bello and incumbent Governor Usman Ododo to honour a purported one‑term agreement in Kogi State, with Faleke allegedly involved.

In a statement posted on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Faleke said he “never had any discussion, nor was I privy to any conversation, arrangement, or agreement regarding a one‑term deal in Kogi State or any related matter.”

He  stressed further that at no point was he a party to such a pact, directly or indirectly. He added that the report has generated a flood of calls and messages n̈seeking clarification, prompting him to label the story “entirely false, misleading, and without any factual basis” and therefore, urge the public to disregard it entirely.

As at press time, TrackNews has not issued any public response to Faleke’s rebuttal, all available reports focus on his denial and characterise the original article as “entirely false, misleading, and without any factual basis,” with no mention of a follow‑up statement or clarification from the outlet.

Faleke, who represents Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and chairs the House Committee on Finance, is a long‑standing member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and holds the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

He has built a reputation as a key figure on fiscal and budgetary matters in the National Assembly and remains a prominent political voice in both Lagos and Kogi states.
