FCT PCRC Chairman Seeks Special Funding, 2,000 More Officers To Sustain Crime Fight In Abuja

By Ifelayo Joshua

Chief Rufus Ebegba Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) FCT Command, has called on the Inspector-General of Police, I-G Olatunji Disu to provide special funding and additional manpower to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command.

Ebegba stated that the gesture would sustain the current momentum against crime on Saturday in Abuja during a high-profile reception organised by the FCT Commissioner of Police (CP) Ahmed Sanusi, in honour of the I-G.

Ebegba lauded the operational success of the FCT Police Command while outlining critical areas that required immediate intervention.

He appealed for special funding and logistics, to procure advanced logistics, security equipment, patrol vehicles, and drones to enhance surveillance and operational efficiency across the FCT environs.

Ebegba specifically requested an allocation of 2,000 additional men to the existing 10,000 personnel, to be deployed exclusively within the FCT to reinforce the existing security architecture.

He explained that proper housing enhances officers’ readiness and commitment.

“I urge the Accountant General’s office to provide a special infrastructure allocation as well as development partners to construct modern barracks across all police divisions in the FCT”.

Ebegba commended the FCT CP describing him as a “gallant professor” who has successfully driven criminal elements out of the nation’s capital.

He urged other CPs to expedite more efforts to curb crime in their states while he commended the FCT’s current anti-crime operations.

He recalled witnessing the FCT CP directly participating in field operations in the jungles around the FCT to ensure the city remains safe, reaffirming the FCT PCRC’s confidence in his leadership.

He promised the I-G that the PCRC FCT Command would maximise its impact and would continue to provide robust intelligence, logistical support, and foster a highly collaborative environment between civil communities and the Police Force.

The PCRC FCT chairman also commended Superintendent of Police Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), for her services and congratulated her for a well-deserved promotion.
