EJULE — Thousands of supporters gathered in Ejule on Saturday for a grand reception honouring Kogi State Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Oyibo, in a show of political strength across Ofu Local Government and Kogi East.
Comrade Joel Oyibo has been serving as Deputy Governor of Kogi State since 2024 under Governor Usman Ododo. His homecoming in Ejule comes amid early positioning ahead of the 2027 elections, with party loyalists already mobilising for his second-term project.
The event, held at the Deputy Governor’s country home, brought together the Executive Chairman of Ofu Local Government, Musa Muhammed Lawal, party stakeholders, youth and women’s groups, and party faithful for what organisers described as a “political homecoming”.

Speaking at the reception, Hon. Lawal described Comrade Oyibo as a “tested and trusted political bridge-builder” and a grassroots mobiliser whose leadership has brought development, unity and stability to Kogi State.
He commended the Deputy Governor’s inclusive approach to governance and his support for young people, women and the less privileged across Kogi East. According to Lawal, the administration has remained people-focused and has strategically strengthened the ruling party at ward and polling unit level.
Lawal urged residents of Ofu to remain united and give their full backing to Comrade Oyibo ahead of his second-term project, arguing that continuity was key to sustainable development and political consolidation.
He also called on young people to look beyond sentiment and rally behind the Deputy Governor, whom he described as “the political compass and chief servant of Kogi East”.
The Chairman welcomed recent defectors to the ruling party, thanking them for their confidence and loyalty.

In his remarks, Comrade Oyibo welcomed the new entrants and assured them of equal rights and full integration within the party structure. He said the party remained one united family committed to the progress and stability of Kogi State.
The Deputy Governor reaffirmed his commitment to people-oriented governance, youth empowerment, party unity and the delivery of democratic dividends across the state.
The reception drew massive supporters, party leaders, political appointees, youth organisations and women’s groups from across Kogi East, turning the occasion into a clear demonstration of unity and grassroots support.
