In a strategic meeting held in Abuja, the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman‑Ibrahim, and Ms Nonye Ujam, Director of Government Affairs at Microsoft, explored how digital tools can accelerate women and child development under Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The talks centred on expanding digital inclusion, strengthening child‑protection mechanisms and creating new economic opportunities for women and families.
The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to public‑private partnerships, emphasising that technology will be a cornerstone for achieving gender equality and family empowerment.
Microsoft expressed its readiness to co‑design inclusive, skills‑focused and safe digital programmes, building on its existing national skills initiatives that have already trained millions of Nigerians.
While this dialogue signals a fresh, high‑level collaboration, it builds on Microsoft’s longstanding work in Nigeria. Since 2021, the company has partnered with the Federal Government to deliver digital training to more than four million people, and it has run women‑focused tech programmes such as the Women Techsters Initiative and the Microsoft Leap apprenticeship, which recruit and upskill women for tech careers.
