Nigeria, Türkiye Explore Closer Ties in Livestock Sector Opportunities

By Danjuma Amodu | March 13, 2026

Nigeria is looking to deepen its partnership with Türkiye to transform the livestock sector, with the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, affirming the country’s commitment to collaborating with the Turkish government and private sector.

Receiving a delegation from the Nigeria-Türkiye Business Council (NTBC), Minister Maiha highlighted vast investment opportunities in Nigeria’s livestock sector, citing areas such as feed production, animal health management, and dairy development.

The engagement aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s drive to strengthen international partnerships that can support the modernization and growth of key sectors of the Nigerian economy. Collaboration with Türkiye could support the Federal Government’s plan to strengthen critical areas of the sector, including red meat production and vaccine manufacturing.

“Nigeria’s livestock sector is open for business,” Maiha said, welcoming partners that can bring technology, expertise, and investment into the sector.

Türkiye’s experience in livestock development offers practical solutions that could support Nigeria’s reform agenda, said Dele Kelvin Oye, Chairman of the NTBC. The Council is ready to facilitate partnerships between Nigerian and Turkish investors to unlock opportunities within the livestock value chain.
