Nigeria Youths in Politics, NYIP, has taken its campaign for youth political inclusion beyond Nigeria’s borders with the participation of its North East Zonal Coordinator, Hon. Salihu Abdulkadir, at an international conference in the Russian Federation.

Hon. Abdulkadir departed Abuja on Thursday for the International Youth Conference in the Sverdlovsk Region, scheduled for September 12–27, 2026. The forum will bring together youth leaders, civil society actors, and political stakeholders from different countries to discuss youth participation in governance, democracy, and global cooperation.
As part of the engagement, he will also join international observers for the Russian Federation parliamentary elections. NYIP said the exposure will provide valuable insights into democratic processes while creating an opportunity to share Nigeria’s experience and advocate for greater youth representation in political decision-making.
“This is more than a journey. It is an opportunity to build global partnerships, amplify the Nigerian youth voice, and mobilise international support for meaningful youth participation in politics,” the group stated in a post on its official Instagram page.
NYIP is a youth-led political advocacy platform focused on increasing the participation of young Nigerians in governance, policy-making, and party politics. The movement has been at the forefront of campaigns for constitutional reforms, party quotas, and leadership opportunities for youths at local, state, and national levels, and operates zonal structures across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones.
As North East Zonal Coordinator, Hon. Abdulkadir coordinates NYIP’s mobilisation, advocacy, and political education activities across the six states in the region.
The group’s international outing comes amid sustained national debates on youth inclusion in Nigeria’s political space. Following the passage of the “Not Too Young To Run” Act, youth groups have continued to push for more representation in elective and appointive positions, as well as stronger institutional support for young leaders.
NYIP said the Russia engagement aligns with its mandate to expose Nigerian youth leaders to global best practices and to position the demand for youth inclusion within international democratic conversations. “Nigeria Youths in Politics — Leading the Change for a Greater Nigeria,” the group added.
