NITDA Concludes Digital Literacy Training for Federal Character Commission Staff

By Danjuma Amodu | February 25, 2026

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has successfully concluded a three-day Digital Literacy Training for staff of the Federal Character Commission, reinforcing the Agency’s commitment to strengthening digital capacity across public sector institutions through its Digital Literacy for All Initiative (DL4All).

Representing the Director General of NITDA, Dr. Ahmed Tambuwal, Acting Director of the Digital Literacy and Capacity Building Department, highlighted the importance of equipping public servants with practical digital skills to improve efficiency, service delivery, and innovation in governance.

NITDA also donated 35 laptops to the Commission to support continuous learning and the integration of digital tools into daily operations. This intervention aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ensuring that Nigeria’s public sector workforce is digitally empowered to drive inclusive national development.

The training covered a range of topics, including basic computer skills, Microsoft Office applications, and digital security best practices. Participants also received hands-on training in areas such as data analysis, digital communication, and online collaboration tools.

“The ability to effectively use digital tools is no longer a luxury, but a necessity for public servants to deliver efficient and effective services to citizens,” Dr. Tambuwal emphasized.

The Federal Character Commission has welcomed the training, saying it will help improve staff productivity and contribute to the commission’s overall goals. The commission’s management has pledged to support NITDA’s efforts to promote digital literacy among its staff.

NITDA’s DL4All initiative aims to train 1 million Nigerians in digital skills by the end of 2026. The agency has been working with various stakeholders to achieve this goal and has received praise from stakeholders, including the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), which said, “Digital literacy is key to unlocking Nigeria’s potential. We commend NITDA for its efforts in promoting digital literacy and look forward to continued collaboration.”

The agency’s efforts are part of the Federal Government’s broader efforts to promote digital transformation and economic growth in Nigeria.
