The heartbreaking tragedy unfolding across Dekina Local Government is a wound in the soul of Igala land.
Residents of Okete have fled their ancestral homes. Reports confirm that Ebeje I and Ebeje II have been destroyed by armed militia groups, while the village of Edede has been wiped off the map. In Akpelu, families now live in fear and uncertainty, unsure if they will be next.
I have walked these roads. During my campaign across the Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency, I sat with elders, listened to mothers, and saw the struggles of these communities firsthand. What is happening is not a distant statistic. It is a humanitarian disaster and a direct assault on the peace, unity, and survival of our people.

This is why I am calling on the Kogi State Government and the Federal Government to act immediately. The people of Oganenigu ward cannot continue to live under siege while their homes burn. Silence at this moment will only deepen the pain of citizens who look to government for protection.
I appeal directly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and to the military high command to deploy urgent security intervention. Every hour of delay puts more lives at risk.
To every son and daughter of Igala land serving in the military, police, and security agencies, this is your moment to stand for your people. History remembers those who rose when their communities were under attack.
It is painful that while villages burn, some traditional rulers and influential figures have remained silent. Our people deserve truth, justice, and protection, not silence in the face of destruction.
Enough is enough. Igala land must not be abandoned to fear and bloodshed. The cries of widows, displaced children, and helpless families must move those in power to act.
Let peace, justice, and security return to our land.
