The Young Progressives Party (YPP) has unveiled Architect Dr. Peter Agada as a presidential aspirant for the 2027 general election.
Speaking at a media briefing in Abuja on behalf of The Movement Nigeria (TMN), labour-linked groups and civil society organisations, Dr. Agada said he decided to pursue his presidential ambition on the platform of the YPP after leaving the Labour Party.
According to him, TMN, a coalition of professionals, civil society groups, labour activists, and other stakeholders across the country, had endorsed his aspiration and mobilised support for his presidential project.
Dr. Agada alleged that after purchasing the Labour Party’s presidential nomination forms and successfully undergoing screening for the party’s primary election, he was informed shortly before the primary that he had been disqualified from the contest.
He claimed that the disqualification was based on an alleged zoning arrangement which, according to him, was not contained in the party’s constitution. He said the development informed his decision to seek another political platform.

“The YPP’s ideals aligned with my commitment to justice, transparency, and national development,” Dr. Agada said.
The presidential hopeful stated that the YPP’s ideals aligned with his commitment to justice, transparency, and national development.
He further disclosed that TMN had initiated legal proceedings to recover funds allegedly committed to his aborted presidential bid under the Labour Party.
As part of his policy initiatives, Dr. Agada unveiled http://LabourDirect.com, a proposed digital platform designed to integrate policy planning, budgeting, and development programmes across sectors of the Nigerian economy.
He also announced plans for the establishment of a Labour Institute of Nigeria, which he said would serve as a non-partisan centre for policy research, leadership development, and ideological orientation for labour organisations.
On security, Dr. Agada expressed concern over the plight of kidnapped schoolchildren, teachers, and other victims of abduction across the country. He called for intensified efforts to secure their release and announced that TMN would hold a candlelight vigil in Oyo State in solidarity with the victims and their families.
He commended labour unions, civil society organisations, and members of the YPP for supporting the initiative.
On behalf of The Movement Nigeria (TMN) and affiliated groups, Dr. Agada said he joined the YPP after what he described as an unfair disqualification from the Labour Party’s presidential race.
He alleged that despite purchasing nomination forms, undergoing screening, and supporting party activities, he was informed a day before the primary election that he was no longer eligible to contest.
He maintained that the decision was contrary to the party’s constitution.
Dr. Agada also announced plans by TMN to pursue legal action over funds allegedly expended during the aborted Labour Party bid.

The presidential hopeful further unveiled http://LabourDirect.com and a proposed Labour Institute of Nigeria, aimed at promoting policy development and leadership training.
He also called for greater efforts to secure the release of kidnapped schoolchildren, teachers, and other victims across the country, as TMN prepares for a candlelight vigil in Oyo State.
