Housing Minister Calls for Stakeholder Collaboration in National Homeownership Drive

By Danjuma Amodu | January 26, 2026

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, has urged state governments, housing institutions, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), developers, and other stakeholders to actively participate in the national homeownership and housing development campaign, scheduled for 4–5 March 2026 in Katsina State.

Speaking during the 14th National Council on Lands, Housing and Urban Development in Ilorin, Kwara State, Dangiwa emphasised that the campaign aimed to create a coordinated federal-state approach to housing delivery, ensuring that federal policies, reforms, and financing opportunities translate into real projects at the state level.

The campaign, organised by Know This Nigeria Network (KTNN) in collaboration with the ministry, included regional executive sessions and public homeownership seminars to strengthen links between federal housing institutions, DFIs, and state governments.

Dangiwa highlighted the ministry’s unified housing delivery framework, which seeks to have all federal housing institutions function cohesively, supporting state-level housing initiatives and fostering sustainable urban development.

Muhammed Adamu, National Coordinator of the campaign, described the initiative as a platform for continuous engagement, awareness, and collaboration between federal and state stakeholders. Katsina State will host the inaugural North-West edition.

This year’s council theme is: “Achieving Housing Delivery and Sustainable Cities through Effective Land Management, Urban Renewal, Promotion of Local Building Materials, and Public-Private Partnerships in Nigeria.”
