Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to justice, integrity, accountability, and faith-based leadership as the state marks its 50th anniversary.
Speaking at the Golden Jubilee Jumat Service in Akure, the Governor described the anniversary as a moment of reflection and renewal, noting that Ondo State was founded on vision, courage, and strong moral values.
He said the state’s progress over the past five decades has been driven by collective effort, resilience, and divine guidance despite challenges.
Aiyedatiwa emphasized the role of faith in governance, describing leadership as a sacred trust that must promote equity, social cohesion, and citizens’ welfare.
He outlined his administration’s priorities, including inclusive economic growth, youth empowerment, human capital development, and stronger institutions anchored on transparency and ethical values.
Chief Imam of Akure, Sheikh Abdulhaheem Yayi-Akorode, praised past and present leaders for their contributions to Ondo State’s development, noting that current progress reflects years of sacrifice. He commended the governor’s infrastructural efforts and social initiatives, calling for greater inclusiveness and improved Muslim representation in government.
The event concluded with prayers for Ondo State, its leadership, and Nigeria, attended by top government officials and dignitaries..
