Gas Network Reconciliation Workshop Set to Align Data and Boost Transparency

By Danjuma Amodu | February 9, 2026

The Authority is convening the H2 2025 Nigerian Gas Network Reconciliation Workshop to undertake a detailed reconciliation and verification of domestic gas volumes transported across the Nigerian Gas Network for the period July–December 2025.

The workshop, in accordance with the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and the Nigerian Gas Transportation Network Code, brings together gas suppliers, transporters, and off-takers to align custody transfer and fiscal metering data in line with approved metering standards.

During deliberations, decisions will also be made on how to reconcile nominated, allocated, and attributed gas volumes, and address network imbalances arising from measurement variances and operational losses.

The workshop aims to promote transparency and accountability in the gas industry, ensuring that gas volumes are accurately measured and accounted for.

Here’s a possible background for the story:

The Nigerian Gas Network Reconciliation Workshop is a bi-annual event aimed at ensuring transparency and accuracy in the measurement and allocation of gas volumes transported across the country’s gas network. The workshop brings together stakeholders in the gas industry, including suppliers, transporters, and off-takers, to reconcile and verify gas volumes and address any discrepancies or imbalances in the network.

The event is mandated by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and the Nigerian Gas Transportation Network Code, which require regular reconciliation and verification of gas volumes to ensure fairness and transparency in the industry.

The workshop is expected to review the performance of the gas network for the period July-December 2025, identify areas of improvement, and make recommendations for enhancing the efficiency and reliability of gas supply in Nigeria.
