Governor Peter Mbah has inaugurated the Enugu Haier Factory, a $20 million Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) project in partnership with Haier Global Business, marking a significant milestone in the state’s bid to become a hub for industry, innovation, and knowledge-driven growth.
The factory, which will produce smartphones, tablets, smart boards, computers, renewable energy solutions, and health technologies, is expected to produce up to 200,000 ICT devices annually and create jobs for locals.
Governor Mbah highlighted the project’s impact on the state’s economy, saying it will serve as a practical training ground for young talents and strengthen the backbone of the Smart Green Schools initiative.
The governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his macroeconomic policies, which have attracted steady inflows of foreign investment.
He noted that the investment reflects growing confidence in Enugu as a destination for serious business and aligns with the Federal Government’s economic direction.
Haier Global Business is planning a $30 million expansion into sectors like agriculture, mining, and transportation, further underscoring the state’s potential for growth. Governor Mbah extended an invitation to investors, stating that Enugu is ready, with open doors, working systems, and an unfolding future.
The inauguration of the Enugu Haier Factory is seen as a bold step in repositioning Enugu as a hub for industry, innovation, and knowledge-driven growth, with the governor emphasizing that “tomorrow is here”.
