IGP Disu Presents ₦2.4bn Cheques to Families of Fallen Officers, Reaffirms Commitment to Personnel Welfare

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has presented cheques to 1,075 beneficiaries and next-of-kin of deceased police officers under the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes.

In a statement issued today by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid disclosed that the ceremony was held at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, saw a total sum of ₦2,435,421,584.11 disbursed, covering policy years 2018/2019 to 2025/2026, including outstanding insurance claims.

The Force Insurance Officer, ACP Lydia Ameh, stated that the disbursement reflects IGP Disu’s determination to prioritize officers’ welfare and their families. She emphasized that decisive steps have been taken to ensure compliance by insurance providers and prevent delays in claims settlement.

IGP Disu described the ceremony as a solemn recognition of the sacrifices made by officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, noting that personnel welfare remains a central pillar of his administration. He assured that efforts would be intensified to strengthen welfare frameworks, improve administrative efficiency, and eliminate delays in benefits disbursement.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterates its commitment to the welfare of its personnel and the families of fallen officers, recognizing that their sacrifices remain invaluable to the nation’s peace, security, and stability.

The IGP also noted that the Force will leverage modern technology to enhance transparency, streamline claims processing, and ensure accountability in welfare administration. He assured that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to supporting the families of fallen officers and ensuring they receive the benefits they deserve.

The ceremony was attended by senior police officers, families of the deceased, and other stakeholders. It was a sombre occasion that highlighted the sacrifices made by police officers and their families in the line of duty.
