A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Mrs. Amina Zanna Ibrahim, has formally declared her intention to contest the Federal Capital Territory Senatorial seat in the 2026 general elections.
Dr. Ibrahim made the declaration during a media briefing in Abuja, where she pledged to provide purposeful and people-oriented representation for residents of the FCT.
She said her aspiration was driven by the desire to bring governance closer to the people and address the socio-economic challenges confronting residents, particularly in satellite communities.
The APC aspirant identified rising cost of living, unemployment, transportation difficulties, inadequate housing, insecurity, and poor infrastructure as some of the pressing issues affecting residents of the territory.

Dr. Ibrahim explained that her experience in business, community leadership, women empowerment, and development initiatives had prepared her for effective legislative service.
She outlined her priority areas to include economic empowerment, affordable living, youth development, women inclusion, community infrastructure, and effective representation.
The senatorial hopeful also promised to champion policies that would support small and medium-scale enterprises, youth entrepreneurship, vocational training, and improved access to finance.
On women participation in politics, Dr. Ibrahim stressed that leadership should be based on competence, vision, and capacity rather than gender.
She reaffirmed her loyalty to the APC and expressed support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Dr. Ibrahim appealed to party members, delegates, women, youths, traditional institutions, and residents of the FCT to support her aspirations.
She maintained that her campaign slogan, “With the People, for the People,” reflects her commitment to inclusive leadership and results-driven representation.
A Member APC-UK founder Face Renewed hope Agenda, Hajia Jemila Zannah Muhammed ,who is also the strong supporter of a Senatorial aspirant, described Dr. Amina as a compassionate, experienced and education-driven leader capable of delivering quality representation for residents of the FCT.
She expressed confidence that Dr. Amina’s emergence as senator for the FCT would promote educational advancement, moral values and social integration among residents.
Also Hajia Hauwa Muhammed Nasir explained that the aspirant possesses listening ears and a kind heart, qualities she noted would make her an effective senator.
According to her, the education sector would receive significant attention if Dr. Amina emerges victorious, stressing that education remains the bedrock of national development.
She maintained that educating women and children would help address social challenges, including juvenile delinquency within the nation’s capital.
further emphasized the importance of proper parenting and moral upbringing, describing parents as the first teachers of every child.
The supporter expressed confidence that Dr. Amina’s emergence as senator for the FCT would promote educational advancement, moral values and social integration among residents.
