The Kebbi State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, and Executive Chairman of Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area, Honourable Dahiru Muhammad Ambursa, has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day, describing June 12 as a historic reminder of the power of the people in shaping governance.
Honourable Ambursa, in a statement, saluted the sacrifices of the heroes and heroines of June 12, 1993, saying their commitment to democratic ideals remains a foundation for accountability, good governance and people-oriented leadership.
He commended the Kebbi State Governor, His Excellency Nasir Idris, for what he described as significant democratic milestones and commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy across the state.
The ALGON Chairman highlighted the signing of the 2026 Kebbi State Appropriation Bill and the administration’s alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda as evidence of its focus on effective planning, inclusive development and improved service delivery.
According to him, the efforts of the state government in healthcare, education, agriculture, rural infrastructure and security reflect the true essence of democracy at the grassroots level.
“Under Governor Nasir Idris, Kebbi is moving from promise to performance. His leadership reflects the vision of June 12, where governance is anchored on law, service and development that reaches every community,” Ambursa stated.
He reaffirmed the support of ALGON Kebbi and the 21 Local Government Chairmen for the state government, pledging continued commitment to transparency, accountability and efficient service delivery in all councils.
Ambursa also expressed optimism that ongoing efforts to strengthen local government autonomy and good governance would further deepen democracy across the state.
He urged Nigerians to continue protecting democratic values, noting that the dream of June 12 can only be fully realised when development reaches the people at the grassroots
