The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has commended the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Sanusi, for what it described as exceptional leadership and remarkable operational achievements in tackling crime across the nation’s capital.
The Chairman of the PCRC FCT Command, Dr. Rufus Ebegba, made the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday.
Ebegba said Sanusi’s intelligence-driven and proactive policing strategy has produced significant results since he assumed office as the 35th Commissioner of Police in charge of the FCT.
He highlighted the dismantling of organized kidnapping and ‘one chance’ armed robbery syndicates, the recovery of ransom funds, and the seizure of arms used in the commission of crimes as key achievements of the current command leadership.
“These achievements demonstrate not only tactical competence but also a clear strategic vision for improving security in Abuja.”

The PCRC Chairman also applauded the Commissioner for consolidating tactical units into the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), describing the initiative as a major step towards strengthening the command’s operational efficiency.
Ebegba further expressed satisfaction with Sanusi’s firm public stance against extortion and misconduct by police officers, as well as his commitment to inter-agency collaboration and community engagement.
According to him, the reforms reflect a leadership style anchored on discipline, transparency, and accountability, which have helped restore public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and strengthen police-community relations across the FCT.
He said the PCRC FCT Command remains committed to working closely with the police to deepen community policing and promote a safer environment for all residents.
“We pledge our continued partnership and support as you build on these achievements. We urge you to sustain this momentum to further enhance the safety and well-being of all who live, work and visit our nation’s capital.”
— Dr. Rufus Ebegba, Chairman, PCRC FCT Command
Ebegba reaffirmed the committee’s readiness to support the FCT Police Command in sustaining the gains made in securing lives and property in Abuja.
