By Henry Oseremen Ihimekpen | January 24, 2026

Abia State Governor encouraged NYSC 2026 Batch A Stream 1 Corps members to serve with excellence and make the most of their national service, speaking at their swearing-in ceremony at the Orientation Camp in Umunna, Bende LGA.

The Governor reminded them that service is a seed that can grow into a life of purpose and leadership when nurtured with discipline, empathy, and commitment. He cited the example of Mr. Benson Ojeikere, the current Head of Service in Abia, who was the best corps member of his batch and now leads the state’s Civil Service.

The Governor praised the NYSC leadership in Abia, led by Mrs. Gladys Adama, for their commitment to the welfare and integration of corps members. He assured them of the government’s continued support, stating that investing in young people is investing in the future of the state.

Reflecting on his own NYSC experience, the governor urged the corps members to serve with heart, dream boldly, and make the most of this defining chapter.
