Event Rentals Association Flags CSR Drive Across Four Abuja Hospitals

The Association of Party and Event Rentals Professionals in Abuja, APERA, has donated industrial waste-management bins to Kubwa General Hospital as part of efforts to promote proper waste disposal and a cleaner healthcare environment.
The donation formed part of activities marking the association’s inaugural conference, themed “Structure, Standards, Scale,” and was presented on behalf of APERA President, Abuja Chapter, Mrs. Olubunmi Eji, by the association’s Chief Whip, Mrs. Chekwubechukwu Edomwande.
Mrs. Edomwande said the gesture was part of APERA’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative being implemented in four hospitals across Abuja. She explained that seven industrial waste bins, as well as smaller bins requested by the hospital, were donated to facilitate proper segregation and disposal of different categories of medical waste.
The APERA Chief Whip said proper waste management is essential to protecting patients and healthcare workers, while maintaining a clean and safe hospital environment. She added that the association hopes to sustain the initiative annually and expand its interventions to other areas of society.
She appealed to other organisations and non-governmental organisations to emulate APERA by supporting healthcare facilities, stressing that the hospital still requires more smaller-sized bins to enable individual units to effectively segregate waste.
Mrs. Edomwande also called for stronger collaboration between APERA and relevant government agencies to address challenges confronting the event rental industry, particularly the movement of equipment and logistics.
Receiving the items on behalf of the hospital management, the Head of Nursing Unit, Mrs. Shutti Musirafat, appreciated APERA for the gesture and prayed for God’s continued blessings on the association.
Mrs. Shutti said the waste bins will assist the hospital in maintaining proper waste segregation, explaining that different colours are used for different categories of waste, including red for hazardous waste, yellow for infectious or semi-hazardous waste, and black for general waste.
APERA is an association of businesses and practitioners in Abuja’s event rental industry committed to promoting professionalism, standards and excellence in the sector.
