The Joint Security Team of Prince Abubakar Audu University, PAAU Anyigba, has arrested a non-student found with a pistol on campus during the ongoing second semester examinations.
The suspect was intercepted today, Monday 22nd June 2026, by security personnel during routine surveillance at strategic locations within the university. He is currently in custody while preliminary investigations continue to ascertain his identity, mission on campus, and possible links to criminal activities.
According to Uredo Omale, Public Relations Officer of the university, the operation was part of measures to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for students writing their examinations. “Further details will be communicated as investigations progress,” the statement added.

The arrest comes weeks after PAAU Anyigba recorded a security incident on campus in which one student was reportedly shot dead. The attack sparked concern among students and staff, and prompted the university management, in collaboration with Kogi State security agencies, to intensify patrols and restrict access to the campus.
Since then, the institution has heightened surveillance around examination venues and other strategic points to prevent further breaches.
